Head
over to my blog, where I talk about most of the following
subjects more often (but with a more current perspective, of course). It
does sort of help to read the below sections, to get a better idea of my
range of interests. The blog also links to my friends and acquaintances
and blogs/sites I read regularly, if not daily. |

The
site is currently undergoing some reorganization, so the following sections
are temporarily offline. Most of the content will return later -- in
the meantime you can check out the weblog, which covers all of the main
themes listed below, from music to radio. |
 |
Find
out about my irrefutable love for music: the many styles, artists and composers
I like (they range from Beethoven to Richard Buckner
to Antonio Carlos Jobim to Gillian Welch
to David Gray...and on). |
 |
I'm
basically prone to Victorian- and Edwardian-era novels (mostly British,
some American), but I like other examples as well. Some authors whose works
fit the bill: Katherine Mansfield, George Eliot,
Kazuo Ishiguro, P. G. Wodehouse,
and my absolute favorite, E. M. Forster. Check out
this section for more authors I like and recommend. |
 |
The
movies I particularly like range mostly from the 1930s to early
1960s (e.g. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and film
noir), or are recently produced period dramas (e.g. Howards
End). Current actors I've enjoyed watching include Cate
Blanchett and Billy Crudup. Also in this section,
learn more about my love particularly for adaptations of
writings for film. |
 |
My
favorites include old seasons of Gilmore Girls,
The West Wing and Sports Night
-- and much of the past and current content presented by PBS' long-running
Mystery! and Masterpiece Theatre.
In this section, I promote the shows I like, and even confess to some guilty
TV watching. |

Here,
I discuss my OTR (old-time radio) fandom (e.g. faves include The
Jack Benny Program, The Stan Freberg Show
and Our Miss Brooks). I also promote current
radio shows (mostly public radio) like Says You!,
Michael Feldman's Whad'ya Know?, NPR
news magazines and the music programming of KCRW (I thrive
on Weekend Becomes Eclectic/The A Track). |
